Peavey Mark VI

The Amp & Cabinet

I've tried to get represenative pics of the amp as a whole, and close-ups of the two things wrong with it. You can see the left shelving knob was broken off flush. The potentiometer still roks, but you would have to run a small screw into the stub to turn it. I also just noticed that the far left "handle" on the slider of the graphic EQ is missing. The slider is still totally intact, but it's just missing the plastic thingy. I took several close-ups of the front so you could see it.

Also, I tried to show the crayon scribbling on the grill in front of the left 10" speaker. I've never tried any chemicals to clean it off 'cause I didn't want to damage it (because I don't know what to use!)

The pictures don't really do it justice. It's HUGE and HEAVY!!! Personally, I think it oughtta be illegal to make a cabinet that heavy without putting wheels on it! :>} In a few of the pics, I put my Unity bass in front of the amp to give it perspective.

When I first bought the amp and cabinet, I got the 1x15/2x10 cabinet, and I kept blowing to 15" speaker. Finally Sam, the owner of Keynote Music (which is now Firehouse Music), told me he would sell me this 1x18/2x10 cabinet for $100 plus trade the 1x15/2x10 cab in. He said if I ever blew that 18", he would bow down and worship me as THE bass god! (He was really a great guy!!!) Anyway, I never even came close to damaging it!

Like I said in the ad, I liked to run the lows into the 18", and the highs into the two 10" and also bi- amped the highs to a Peavey 100 watt Musician amp to a 4x12 Musicman cabinet. That was usually for outdoor gigs. In small clubs, I would either run the lows to the 18" and the highs to the two 10" only, or I would just run it all into the full range jack. It ALWAYS sounded great! And another nice thing about this amp is that you don't have to crank it up to develop the full balls.

Well, I'd better shut up before I talk myself into keeping it!! :>} Below are the pics. The first ten are 640 x 480 and the rest are 960 x 1180. I optimized them, so hopefully they won't take too long to load.

The pictures don't really do it justice. If you want to see a video of it being played live, click on the Techno Babble link below, scroll down and watch the "I'm Cryin'" video.
