Welcome to the Org

Welcome to The Org

Changes Coming Soon

The Org will be changing hosting services, so I might be down for a short while. But I will be back up and running with new goodies like my original acoustic compositions and maybe even some new writings. So if I disappear, don't worry! In the words of The Governator, "Ah'll Be Bach!"

Sugarat.org is mainly meant as an outlet where I can post ideas and works from my creative and analytical sides. Here you will find my music, short stories and other writings, game maps for the aging, but still my and my brother, Bret's, favorite computer game, Total Annihilation, and anything else that I may create.

The name, Sugarat, comes from a character in one of my all time favorite science fiction books, "Radix", by A. A. Attanasio. He starts out as an anti-hero, and becomes something else along his journies.

A Virtual Pet

Sigh. Something to look at while I fret about not having added to my blog in quite a while. I actually need to write about the Clarkston Surf Fest, which was a TOTAL success!!! Maybe that's what I'll do tonight! We even got it on video, but I have to process it before I can post any of it. :>}

adopt your own virtual pet!

A New Blog

I have resurrected The Blorg, only in a more conventional, and hopefully, less maintenance oriented style. Will it be witty, insiteful, funny and all of that? Who the heck cares? Was it ever that before? Ditto! What it will be is just me, living my day to day life, commenting on what is important funny, or germane to me. And I do have a sort of weird way of looking at things from time to time.

I Figured It Out

My hit counter/stats link company, Nedstat, was bought out, and the new owners thought it would be a good idea to start putting pop up ads on their users' sites. Personally, I think it stinks, and I will not ever go back to them.

Also, I was contacted by the owner of the Authors' web ring, and I'm in! I just have to contact him back, and The Org will officially be part of the Authors Only Science Fiction and Fantasy Ring!

External Links Removed

I have removed every hyperlink that originates outside of The Org in an attempt to track down where the pop-ups are coming from. This includes things like the space.com heeadlines, the freedictionary.com stuff, blogsinspace.com, etc. I will start adding them back one at a time. Hopefully it won't turn out that my browser is just hijacked! :>}

Webring Membership For The Org Pending

The Org has applied to become part of a webring called "Authors Only Science Fiction and Fantasy Ring." What that means is if you follow the link at the bottom of this page, you will find other Science Fiction authors' websites! It's kind of like belonging to a community of like-minded folks. This is the first webring I've been involved with, so let's show some support! Right now, my membership status is "Pending," so the webring Navbar isn't active yet. If The Org is accepted, then the Navbar will allow you to peruse other SF authors' sites that belong to this ring.

Email Change

I've had to change my listed email address to sugarat99@gmail.com because of the spam spider robots that crawl websites collecting email addresses for their spam lists. GMail has a pretty good anti-spam filter, so hopefully the spam that is filling my inbox will subside. My sugarat original email address IS still good, and I am still using it, but it will no longer be posted here.

There is a new federal program called "Operation Button Pusher" that is geared toward finding the actual individuals that are originating the spam, and I hear that they are having a great deal of success, so all of you scum-sucking, low life spammers out there, if you haven't been caught yet, it's coming soon. And here's a personal message from me: "Drop Dead."

Official NaNoWriMo 2005 Participant
Well, it didn't quite work out this year. Too many projects at once. I AM determined to eventually finish editing IID and then actually write its sequel. So it goes. :>}

Official NaNoWriMo 2004 Winner!
It's official! I have actually written an entire novel in thirty days. It's been a goal for years, but I just never seemed to be able to get past the first paragrah. Well, now it's done! -- Actually, it's not quite done. After I reached 50,000 words, I wrapped it up rather quickly. Now I will finish it properly, and then comes the rewrites. But that should be cake compared to the grueling hours of work that went into writing it. ("May I have more gruel, Sir?")

November 30 -- It's done!

My Winner's Certificate is here

SETI@Home

August 22, 2005
We have done it! We reached 10,000 units on August 22, 2005!!
Here are our certificates: SETI 10,000 Units

July 1, 2005
We are at 9,553 units and counting. At this rate, we should reach 10,000 units by sometime in August

May 21, 2005
My brother and I have passed 9,000 SETI work units (9,050 +). This puts us in the top 99.405% out of five and a half million users in the world. Woo Hoo! When we reach 10,000 units, we will receive a certificate from SETI showing this accomplishment.
